Step-Up (Cable)

Also called Cable Step-Up

How to do it

Connect a belt or matched low-cable handles and face a stable box with one whole foot planted on top. Drive through the elevated foot to stand fully on the box against continuous tension, then step down slowly with the same leg leading. Keep the pelvis level, complete the set, and repeat with the other leg.

Setup

Center a stable box in front of the low pulley and connect a secure belt or matched handles. Keep the cable path clear, whole lead foot on the box, hips square, torso braced, and lead knee aligned.

Where you should feel it

Primarily through the lead-leg quad and glute under continuous cable tension, with the hamstrings and calf assisting while the core and hip stabilizers keep the pelvis level.

When to use it

Use for unilateral leg strength and hypertrophy with continuous resistance and less spinal loading than a barbell. Perform 8-15 controlled reps per side.
