Glute Bridge (Barbell)

Also called Barbell Glute Bridge, BB Glute Bridge

How to do it

Sit on the floor with a padded barbell across the hips and lie back with the knees bent and feet flat. Drive through the heels to lift the hips until the body is straight from knee to shoulder, squeeze the glutes hard, then lower under control.

Setup

Lie on the floor with your knees bent, feet flat, and a padded barbell centered across your hip creases. Hold the bar with both hands, set your feet so your shins are near vertical at the top, and keep your ribs down.

Where you should feel it

Squarely in the glutes as the hips rise and pause, with the hamstrings assisting. Hamstring cramping often means the feet are too far away; lower-back pressure means you are arching past hip extension.

When to use it

Use for heavier floor-based glute loading with less range than a bench-supported hip thrust. It works well in the 8-15 rep range with a deliberate pause before progressing load.
