Decline Bench Press (Resistance Band)

How to do it

Set the bench to –15 to –20° — a shallow negative is all you need, steeper adds little and makes getting set awkward. Anchor a band behind you and lie back holding an end in each hand at chest level. Press both hands up and forward to full extension, then return slowly to a chest stretch.

Setup

Set a shallow decline bench, secure your legs, and anchor the band safely behind or beneath the bench with equal tension on both sides. Start with the ends beside your lower chest, shoulder blades pinned and wrists stacked.

Where you should feel it

Across the lower-to-mid chest with resistance increasing toward lockout, plus the triceps near the top. If the shoulders dominate, keep the anchor below chest level and the elbows from flaring.

When to use it

Use for portable decline-pattern pressing, warm-up volume, or higher-repetition chest work without plates or cables. The rising resistance emphasizes the top half and suits controlled sets of roughly 10-20 reps.
