Floor Press (Barbell)
Also called Floor Press, BB Floor Press
How to do it
Lie beneath a securely racked bar with knees bent and feet flat, then grip just outside shoulder width and unrack to straight arms. Lower the bar under control until both upper arms gently contact the floor, pause without relaxing, then press to full elbow extension over the shoulders. Keep the wrists stacked and ribs down.
Setup
Use a rack with safeties set for the floor position and center beneath the bar. Plant both feet, keep the upper back and hips on the floor, grip evenly just outside shoulder width, stack wrists over elbows, and brace the torso.
Where you should feel it
Across the chest and triceps during the press, with the front delts assisting while the core controls the ribs and the forearms keep the bar stacked. The floor should stop the upper arms evenly.
When to use it
Use for bilateral pressing strength, triceps-focused overload, and shoulder-friendly range limitation. Controlled sets of 4-10 reps work well with safe rack supports.
