Guillotine Press (Dumbbell)

Also called Neck Press (Dumbbell), Dumbbell Guillotine Press, DB Guillotine Press

How to do it

Lie with the head, upper back, and hips fully supported on a flat bench and hold one light dumbbell over each side of the upper chest. Lower both bells slowly with elbows wide only through a pain-free shoulder range, stopping above the upper-chest/shoulder line, then press to straight arms. Keep the loads away from the face and neck.

Setup

Sit the dumbbells on the thighs and roll carefully onto the bench with the head fully supported. Plant both feet, set the upper back, hold the bells with wrists stacked and a wide elbow path, and begin over the upper chest using a light controllable load.

Where you should feel it

Across the upper chest with the front delts and triceps assisting, while the core and forearms stabilize the independent bells. Stop immediately for shoulder, neck, or face-path discomfort.

When to use it

Use only as an advanced light-load chest variation when independent dumbbells and a conservative pain-free range are preferred. Perform controlled sets of 8-15 reps and avoid fatigue that compromises the bell path.
