Tricep Dip (Dip Bars)

Also called Tricep Dip, Triceps Dip, Vertical Dip

How to do it

On parallel bars, keep your torso upright and vertical with your elbows tucked close to your sides. Lower straight down until your elbows reach about 90 degrees, then press to a full lockout, squeezing the triceps. The upright torso and tucked elbows keep the tension on the triceps.

Setup

Grip the parallel/dip bars with a neutral grip and lock out your arms with your torso stacked vertically over your hands. Keep your elbows tucked in throughout. Add load with a dip belt or weighted vest to progress.

Where you should feel it

In the triceps, especially at lockout; the chest and front delts assist.

When to use it

Build triceps strength and lockout power as a bodyweight or weighted compound push, or as an accessory to the bench press.
