Hip Thrust (Machine)

Also called Machine Hip Thrust, Glute Drive Machine

How to do it

Set up in the dedicated hip-thrust machine with the pad secured across your hips and both feet planted. Drive through your feet to extend your hips until your torso and thighs align, squeeze your glutes, then lower the machine under control without letting your lower back arch.

Setup

Adjust the back support and hip pad so the machine pivot matches your hip crease, secure the belt or pad, and plant both feet with your shins near vertical at lockout. Keep your ribs down and shoulders supported.

Where you should feel it

Squarely in the glutes through the guided drive and return, with the quads helping stabilize the feet. Hamstring cramping or lower-back pressure usually means the foot position or top range needs adjustment.

When to use it

Use for stable, loadable glute volume with quick setup and minimal balance demand. The dedicated path is useful for controlled sets near fatigue and straightforward progression in the 8-15 rep range.
