Belt Squat (Cable)
Also called Cable Belt Squat, Dip Belt Squat
How to do it
Attach a dip belt to a low pulley and stand astride the cable on two boxes or a raised platform so the weight can travel freely between your feet. Sit down between the hips to depth with the torso tall, then drive through the whole foot to stand against the cable. Set the platform high enough that the stack never touches down at the bottom of the rep.
Setup
Belt low on the hips with the cable running straight down between the feet. Stand on two boxes or a platform tall enough that the plates clear the floor at full depth. Arms free at the sides or lightly on a support for balance.
Where you should feel it
Quads and glutes with the lower back unloaded. The pull is straight down through the hips, so any forward tipping means the cable is not centred under you.
When to use it
A belt squat when there is no dedicated machine — same spine-sparing quality using a cable stack. Good for quad volume and as a back-friendly squat substitute.
