Box Squat (Cable)

Also called Cable Box Squat, Squat to Box (Cable)

How to do it

Hold matched low-cable handles at the shoulders or sides and stand just ahead of a stable box. Sit the hips back and down until they contact the box, pause briefly without relaxing or rocking, then drive through the whole feet to stand against continuous tension. Keep the knees aligned and repeat the same depth.

Setup

Set two low pulleys with matched lengths and position a stable box centered between or just behind the cable paths. Hold the handles evenly, stand just ahead of the box, brace the torso, and align the knees over the toes.

Where you should feel it

Through the quads and glutes under continuous cable tension, with the hamstrings, adductors, and calves assisting while the core and lower back stabilize and the forearms secure the handles.

When to use it

Use for cable-loaded box-squat hypertrophy, repeatable depth, and continuous tension with less spinal loading than a barbell. Perform 8-15 controlled reps.
