Close-Grip Lat Pulldown (Cable)
Also called Close-Grip Front Lat Pulldown (Cable), Close-Grip Front Lat Pulldown, V-Bar Pulldown, V-Bar Pulldown (Cable)
How to do it
Secure your thighs under the pad and grip a close neutral or narrow attachment overhead. Pull the attachment to your upper chest by driving your elbows down beside your ribs, pause, then let your arms extend overhead under control without shrugging.
Setup
Secure the thighs beneath the pad and hold a close neutral or narrow attachment overhead. Keep wrists neutral, chest tall, shoulders set down, and use only a slight backward lean.
Where you should feel it
Down the lats and through the biceps as the elbows drive close to the ribs, with the rear delts assisting. Avoid turning the pull into a torso swing.
When to use it
Use for scalable vertical-pull strength and hypertrophy with a close grip and longer elbow travel. Controlled sets of 8-15 reps work well.
