Straight Arm Pulldown (Machine)

How to do it

Stand facing the machine and hold both high handles with arms nearly straight and a slight fixed elbow bend. Pull the handles down and back in an arc toward your thighs by driving through the shoulders, squeeze the lats, then return slowly overhead to a controlled stretch. Keep the torso still and do not turn it into an elbow-extension pressdown.

Setup

Adjust the machine so both handles begin overhead and can travel freely to the thighs. Stand centered with wrists neutral, elbows softly bent and fixed, shoulders down, knees soft, and torso braced.

Where you should feel it

Along both lats through the guided shoulder-extension arc, with some long-head triceps assistance and the forearms and core maintaining position. Avoid changing the elbow angle.

When to use it

Use for stable bilateral lat hypertrophy when a guided resistance path and simple load progression are preferred. Controlled sets of 10-20 reps fit well.
