Underhand Pulldown (Cable)

Also called Underhand Pulldowns (Cable), Underhand Cable Pulldown, Reverse-Grip Lat Pulldown, Reverse-Grip Lat Pulldown (Cable)

How to do it

Secure your thighs under the pad and grip the pulldown bar about shoulder width with palms facing you. Pull the bar toward your upper chest by driving your elbows down and back, pause, then let your arms extend overhead slowly without leaning excessively or shrugging.

Setup

Secure the thighs under the pad and hold the pulldown bar about shoulder width with both palms facing you. Keep wrists straight, chest tall, shoulders down, and use only a slight backward lean.

Where you should feel it

Down both lats and strongly through the biceps as the elbows drive beside the ribs, with the rear delts assisting. The forearms hold the supinated grip and the core prevents torso swing.

When to use it

Use for bilateral vertical-pull strength and hypertrophy when a supinated grip and greater biceps contribution are desired. Controlled sets of 6-15 reps work well.
