Front Squat (Dumbbell)

Also called DB Front Squat

How to do it

Hold a dumbbell vertically in each hand at shoulder height, elbows lifted and pointing forward. Keeping your torso upright and core braced, squat down until thighs are parallel, then drive up through your heels.

Setup

Bells racked on the shoulders with the elbows up, or one bell held at the chest. Feet shoulder width, torso tall.

Where you should feel it

Quads, with the upper back working to keep the chest from folding.

When to use it

Front-loaded squatting without needing a rack or the mobility a barbell front rack demands. 8-12 reps.
