Squat (Dumbbell)
Also called Dumbbell Squat, DB Squat
How to do it
Stand up straight with a dumbbell in each hand, palms facing the side of your legs. Bend your knees and sit back into a squat until your thighs are near parallel to the floor, then drive through your heels back to standing.
Setup
Hold a bell in each hand at the sides, or one at the chest. Feet shoulder width, toes slightly out, chest tall.
Where you should feel it
Quads and glutes, with less load on the spine than a bar across the back.
When to use it
The squat pattern without a rack. Good for higher reps, for learning depth, and on days when spinal load needs to come down.
