JM Press (Barbell)
Also called JM Press, BB JM Press
How to do it
Lie on a flat bench with a close grip and hold the bar over the upper chest. Bend the elbows while letting them travel slightly forward so the bar descends toward the upper chest or just above it, stop before the forearms lose control, then extend the elbows to return the bar to straight arms. Use a light load and keep the path between a close-grip press and a triceps extension.
Setup
Use a rack with safeties set above the chest or a competent spotter. Lie with feet planted, upper back and hips on the bench, hold the bar just inside shoulder width with wrists stacked, elbows tucked-forward, and ribs controlled.
Where you should feel it
Primarily through the triceps as the elbows bend and extend, with the chest and front delts assisting while the core holds the bench position and the forearms keep the bar stacked. Stop if the elbows or wrists lose alignment.
When to use it
Use as an advanced triceps-strength accessory bridging close-grip pressing and extensions. Start light and perform controlled sets of 6-12 reps with safeties or a spotter.
