Triceps Pushdown (Cable)

Also called Triceps Pushdown, Tricep Pushdown (Cable)

How to do it

Attach a straight or angled bar to a high pulley and hold it overhand at about shoulder width. Pin your elbows beside your ribs, extend them until the arms are straight, squeeze the triceps, then return slowly until the forearms rise without letting the elbows drift.

Setup

Attach a straight or angled bar to a high pulley and stand facing the stack. Hold an even overhand grip around shoulder width with wrists straight, elbows pinned beside the ribs, shoulders down, feet stable, and torso tall.

Where you should feel it

Through both triceps as the elbows straighten, with the forearms maintaining the bar grip and the core preventing torso sway. Keep the shoulders and upper arms still.

When to use it

Use for bilateral triceps hypertrophy with a stable overhand bar path and continuous cable tension. Controlled sets of 8-20 reps work well.
