Bicep Curl (Barbell)

Also called Curl (Barbell), Seated Curl (Barbell), BB Bicep Curl

How to do it

Grip a barbell with an underhand, shoulder-width grip, arms extended and elbows tucked at your sides. Curl the bar up toward your shoulders without swinging, then lower under control to full extension.

Setup

Stand tall holding the bar with an underhand shoulder-width grip, wrists neutral, arms extended, and elbows pinned near your ribs. Brace your abdomen and keep your shoulders down before curling.

Where you should feel it

Through both biceps as the elbows flex and a controlled stretch near full extension, with the forearms maintaining the grip. If the shoulders move forward or torso swings, reduce the load.

When to use it

Use as a loadable bilateral curl for straightforward biceps strength and size progression. It fits well after compound pulling in controlled sets of roughly 6-12 reps.
