Deadlift (Dumbbell)
Also called DB Deadlift
How to do it
Hold a dumbbell in each hand in front of your thighs, hinge your hips back with a flat back and soft knees. Drive through your heels to stand tall, squeezing glutes at the top, then lower back down.
Setup
Bells beside the feet or just in front of the shins, hinge with a flat back and grip with the arms hanging straight.
Where you should feel it
Hamstrings and glutes driving, back braced. Same as the barbell, with a shorter range off the floor.
When to use it
The deadlift pattern without a bar — good for learning the hinge, for higher reps, and when the barbell version is too much load to recover from.
