Deadlift (Machine)

How to do it

Grip the machine's handles with a flat back and hips hinged back, shins close to the frame. Drive through your heels to extend your hips and stand tall, then lower back down under control.

Setup

Stand in the machine with your feet aligned to its pivot and the handles close to your legs. Hinge to reach the grips with a neutral spine, brace your abdomen, set your lats, and confirm the safety stops before lifting.

Where you should feel it

Through the hamstrings and glutes as the hips extend, with the trunk bracing against the guided path. If the lower back dominates, adjust your foot position and keep your chest and hips rising together.

When to use it

Use for a stable, loadable deadlift pattern when you want a guided path and simpler setup than a barbell. It is useful for controlled strength or hypertrophy work where balance is not the main goal.
