Alternating Shoulder Press (Cable)
Also called Alternating Cable Shoulder Press
How to do it
Stand between two low pulleys holding one handle at each shoulder with your trunk braced. Press one handle overhead to a nearly straight arm while the other remains at shoulder height, lower it under control, then press the opposite side. Continue alternating without leaning or using leg drive.
Setup
Stand centered between two low pulleys with one handle at each shoulder, palms forward or slightly inward, elbows just in front of your torso, and feet planted in a stable stance. Brace your abdomen and glutes before pressing.
Where you should feel it
In the front and side shoulder of the pressing arm, with the triceps finishing overhead and the core resisting rotation. Lower-back strain or torso sway means the load is too high or the brace has softened.
When to use it
Use for alternating vertical pressing with continuous cable tension and an added anti-rotation demand. It is useful for moderate-load shoulder volume and side-to-side control in roughly the 8-12 rep range per arm.
