Shoulder Press (Cable)

Also called Cable Shoulder Press, Bilateral Cable Shoulder Press

How to do it

Stand or sit centered between two low pulleys with one handle at each shoulder. Brace your trunk and press both handles overhead until your arms are nearly straight, then lower them under control to shoulder height. Keep your wrists stacked, ribs down, and torso still.

Setup

Set both pulleys evenly at the lowest practical position and stand or sit centered between them. Hold one handle at each shoulder with wrists stacked, elbows slightly forward, feet planted, and ribs down.

Where you should feel it

Across the front and side shoulders during the press and controlled return, with the triceps finishing overhead. Lower-back strain or excessive cable pull across the arms means the load, stance, or pulley position needs adjustment.

When to use it

Use for bilateral shoulder pressing with continuous tension and a freely adjustable arm path. It works well for moderate-load shoulder volume, especially after a heavier free-weight press, in roughly the 8-15 rep range.
