Shoulder Press (Machine)

Also called Shoulder Press (Gym Machine), Seated Shoulder Press (Machine)

How to do it

Adjust the seat so the handles begin near shoulder height and sit with your back supported. Press both handles overhead until your arms are nearly straight, then lower them under control until your elbows are slightly below shoulder level. Keep your ribs down and wrists stacked.

Setup

Adjust the seat so the handles begin near shoulder height and sit with your back fully supported and feet planted. Hold the handles with wrists stacked and elbows slightly in front of your torso.

Where you should feel it

Across the front and side shoulders through the fixed press path, with the triceps finishing near lockout. If the shoulders pinch, adjust the seat or choose a more neutral grip rather than forcing extra depth.

When to use it

Use for stable shoulder volume when balance is not the goal, especially for controlled sets near fatigue. The supported fixed path makes progression straightforward in the 8-15 rep range.
