Calf Raise (Bodyweight)

Also called Bodyweight Calf Raise

How to do it

Stand with the balls of both feet on a stable step and hold a support for balance. Lower your heels slowly below the step, rise as high as possible onto your toes, pause briefly, then descend under control. Keep your knees and ankles aligned and avoid bouncing.

Setup

Place the balls of both feet evenly on a stable step with the heels free and hold a fixed support lightly for balance. Stand tall, keep the knees aligned, and distribute pressure across the base of each big toe and second toe.

Where you should feel it

Through both calves at the top and a controlled ankle stretch at the bottom. Avoid bouncing, gripping excessively with the toes, or letting either ankle roll outward.

When to use it

Use to learn full-range calf mechanics, warm up the ankles, or add high-repetition calf volume anywhere. Progress with pauses, slower lowering, single-leg work, or external load.
