Front Raise (Barbell)

Also called Standing Front Raise Over Head (Barbell), Standing Front Barbell Raise Over Head, BB Front Raise, Front Delt Raise, Front Two-Raise (Barbell)

How to do it

Stand tall holding the bar at thigh level with a palms-down grip slightly narrower than shoulder width. Raise the bar straight out in front to about shoulder height with only a slight elbow bend, then lower it under control without swinging.

Setup

Stand tall with the bar against your thighs and grip it slightly narrower than shoulder width, palms down. Brace your trunk, keep the wrists straight, and maintain a soft elbow bend.

Where you should feel it

At the front of both shoulders as the bar rises, with the core keeping the torso still. Neck tension means you are shrugging or lifting too high.

When to use it

Use for bilateral front-delt isolation with a stable, easily progressed load. It fits best after pressing in controlled sets of 8-15 reps.
